How does Zentitle manage trials?
Zentitle treats trials as first-class offerings. You can define any number of trial variants (14-day, 30-day, feature-limited) and issue them through the same flow as paid offerings, with automatic expiration and a conversion path to a paid license.
Why strong trial management matters
Most software businesses grow through trials, but trial tooling is often bolted on and inconsistent across channels. A unified trial model means the same offering works on your website, in your sales process and inside partner channels.
How trials work in Zentitle
A trial is just another entitlement with a short expiration and (optionally) restricted features.
- Define any number of trial offerings with different lengths or feature sets
- Works for SaaS (login-based) and on-prem (license-key or offline activation)
- In-app countdown feedback to the trial user
- Smooth conversion to a paid license without reissuing anything
Who this video is for?

Of course, one of the important things for any software vendor to manage well is the ability for customers to try out an application to have some kind of trial based model. And so with Zentitle, we make trial management super easy. So you can easily set up offerings. You can have as many different trial offerings as you wish You might have a fourteen day sort of short term trial license.
You might have a thirty day trial license that are given to different people based on the criteria, how much information they provide to you, what have you. And then when you issue that entitlement, that thirty day license, that trial license, You can leverage that either within a pure SaaS environment, so you might send them out an email login to your SaaS application, it would then look up the entitlement, say, Hey, we've got thirty days left, twenty nine days. What have you? You can give feedback to the customer, as to how much time is remaining on their trial, for example.
But you can also leverage that within on prem environments as well. So if you have traditional desktop or server based software, you wanna run trials, then they would simply request a trial through whatever process you have on your site. You'd issue that short term trial license, provide that back to the customer. Again, could be identity based, could it be a license key based model, whichever you choose, and then they would activate that in an on prem environment desktop server.
They could also do offline activation of that trial license, be able to run through your application for the prescribed time, and then hopefully convert back up to a full paid license.
